Another anniversary

So while the left and the media celebrate Timothy McVeigh and the bombing of the Murrah building, we patriots can instead celebrate the Doolittle Raid of April 18, 1942. Sixteen B-25 Mitchell bombers, designed as land based bombers, were launched from the USS Hornet (CV-8), its first mission since being launched, to bomb five cities in Japan, then fly to airfields in China. Talk about the Audacity of Hope! The damage done was of little importance but the Japanese commanders altered their plans and decided to attack Midway Island. The Battle of Midway was the turning point of the war in the Pacific.

In retaliation for helping the American flyers, the Japanese killed an estimated 250,000 local villagers on the coast of China. They even used biological agents to spread disease. That is about equal to the estimated upper limit of deaths in the four months following the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The Zhejiang-Jiangxi Campaign is hardly, if ever, mentioned.
